We arrived finally in Ngognani today. Hordes of small children, each familiar but also distinctly bigger than the last time CCS visited this community, greeted us with eager handshakes. We learned about this year’s rainy season and discussed local affairs. We ate delicious Mafee, the traditional dish of the Mandinka people, prepared by the gracious women of Kekouta’s neighborhood. We shared old stories and good laughs with Kekouta.

It is amazing to be back and to be working on the students’ independent projects. The entire village is excited to be working with us. CCS students are making an incredible difference in the lives of these people. They are also learning from and being loved by the same community. It is a splendid exchange.

More from the students soon!
