This all genuinely feels like a dream. Two years ago, almost to the day (March 4th) I was sent to the Utah desert due to change the course of my life. If you would’ve told me at that point that in two years I would be spending my spring break in India with some of my closest friends as well as people I don’t know too well (yet) I would’ve probably laughed at you, yet here I am.
I’ve only been in India for a few days, and I have already made up my mind that I will be returning. Whether its next year or when I’m traveling the world with my future family, I will 100% come back to this amazing place. Most people that I told I’m spending my spring break here asked me things like, “Wait, are you serious?” and “you do know that’s the last chance for a break you’ll get until school ends in May right?”, yet I’m still here due to my passion for exploring new places.
Dehli is definitely the most eye-opening place I have ever been. I’ve seen so much that I never would’ve imagined seeing in my 17 years, some of it being absolutely incredible. Yesterday our group commuted by auto rickshaw, otherwise known as a tuk-tuk. A tuk-tuk is a three-wheeled motorized vehicle thats very popular in Delhi. I seriously think that riding in a tuk-tuk was some of the most fun I’ve ever had. There was something about the way that we were casually weaving through traffic and getting so close to other cars that made this experience so exhilarating. It felt like I was part of the city.
As I write this, I am on a train headed away from Delhi to Mussoorie. Though I will miss Delhi, I am incredibly excited to see what Mussoorie and the rest of the trip have in store for me! I can’t wait for the moments when I feel like I am part of this country and not just seeing it – where my life is on a different path than it was two years ago.

Willem, it is a great blessing that you are now a member of the Christchurch family and getting this unique adventure in India. Your appreciation for the progress of the past two years in your own life is admirable. This will allow you to take in so much of what you see, feel, and hear along the way. Every stop on this trip is an experience unto itself, and you are mentally and spiritually positioned to take in all of the lessons you are being offered. From tuk-tuk to deep thoughts, it’s an avalanche of emotions and sensations. Thank you for your reflection and thoughtfulness.

Willem, I really appreciated your post and how your time in India has allowed you reflect on all of the growth you have experienced over the last two years. You continue to impress me with your insightful maturity and I very much look forward to hearing about your experience when we get back.
