We woke up on Thursday and prepared for our day in Barcelona. I was kinda worried because I had blisters on my feet and I knew we were going to be walking a lot. We wanted to make sure we didn’t get robbed so we took only essentials. We left our apartment In Tarragona around nine o’clock and made our way to the train station. I took a nap on the train there and found myself in Barcelona when I woke up. The first place we visited was the The Monumental Bullring of Barcelona or La Monumental in Spanish. We went inside and admired the architecture and took some pictures, then we went into the middle of the ring and Mr. Robb pretended to be a bull. After that we walked past the Sagrada Familia and walked up a big hill to Park Guell. On our way back we stopped for lunch at a little cafe and had a light lunch. I took an Uber with Mrs. Kiland back to the train station because the blisters were not in good shape and we had a good conversation about music and my time as a Christchurch student. On the train ride back I listened to some good music and watched the scenery out the windows. When we got back Adri, Sage, and I went on a walk around Tarragona. We sat down and took in the view looking out over the Mediterranean. We talk about life and things that we had going on and we only went back when it started getting cold out. We moseyed our way back to the apartment feeling fulfilled, and tired.
Even though today we got to visit one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen, that was not the most important thing to me about the day. For me the most important and memorable things were the conversations I had and the memories I made with friends. For me I will remember sitting on a wall over looking the water with Sage and Adri for over an hour talking and venting about life. I will remember the talk in the Uber with Mrs Kiland about how I would always sleep through class my sophomore year, how I have really matured since then, and have come out of my shell. That year I was stuck in my own little bubble and didn’t really listen to anybody and would sleep through a lot of classes because I just didn’t really care about anything. Back then I would never have made the decision to come on one of these trips. However nowadays I can, and coming to Spain will be one of those things I will never forget and never regret. I took a risk coming on this trip, not knowing what to expect but now that the trip is almost over I can comfortable say that taking that risk and coming here has been one of the best decisions I have ever made.
