Here are some details:
ITINERARY – THE HIMALAYAS & THE ANDAMAN ISLANDS (DEC 29 – JAN 20, with flexible arrival and departure)

People can arrive in New Delhi anytime between December 29th and January 1st. We’ll enjoy New Years in the capital and get acclimated to life on the subcontinent by eating delicious food, exploring interesting historic sights, and spending time with many of the people who make our Global Education trips work.
After a few days in New Delhi, we’ll head north to the Himalayas on January 1st. The trip north is easy now. A brand new system of elevated highways allows vehicles to bypass the congestion of the plains. We’ll stop in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand’s most famous British hill station.
After Mussoorie, we’ll head to Agora, our base for the rest of the time in the north. There, people will get to spend time eating meals. They will learn about the lives of host families. They will stay in comfortable homestays run by Suman and Praveen. We’ll get to really understand what life is like in this unique, subsistence-farming community.
Our time in the mountains will include the chance to fish for big brown trout in crystal clear streams. We will hike to incredible viewpoints of the high Himalaya. We will visit religious sites and see the pace and shape of development in these sensitive mountains. The itinerary will keep us close to the birthplace of the Hindu God Ganesh, the holiest source of the Ganges, the regional capital, some of the most famous trekking routes in northern India, and much more.

We’ll swing by the Ganges on the way back to Delhi to cap our time in the Himalayas. Following the footsteps of the Beatles, we’ll check out the hippies in Rishikesh mingling with devout Hindus and a growing tourist economy. Our drive will provide glimpses of endless bathing ghats, cremation grounds, and other signs of the river’s significance to millions of people.
From Delhi, we’ll board a plane on January 10th and fly out the Andaman Islands, a picture-perfect cluster of islands in the Bay of Bengal. These islands have a unique history and remain home to several of the world’s most unconnected tribal groups. We’ll get to enjoy the beauty of the reefs, virgin forests, sandy beaches, and more.

Our base on the islands will be a comfortable little hotel run by the owners of the best fishing boats on the islands. The hotel is located in the middle of the best island for people to visit, Havelock, and will provide us access to beaches, jungle hikes, good restaurants, and more. Each day, people will have the option to go out fishing, spend time in one of the many small villages on the island, relax on the beach, hike through the jungle, and much more.

We’ll leave the islands on January 19th and head back to New Delhi. People can leave a few days early if needed.
If you are interested in joining the group, it’s not too late! We’d love to share this incredible opportunity with as many people as possible. We have a good little group already signed up but, as they say, the more, the merrier!
